2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions:

Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add the minced garlic and sauté for another minute, stirring constantly so it doesn't burn.
Add the can of crushed tomatoes, salt, sugar, basil, oregano, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The longer you let it cook, the more the flavors will meld together and the thicker the sauce will become.
After it's finished cooking, taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as necessary.
If you prefer a smoother sauce, use an immersion blender or transfer the sauce to a blender and puree until smooth.
Use the tomato sauce immediately or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
